4. Connect clamp (Figure 2, Item 4) of ammeter (Figure 2, Item 1) around positive alternator cable (Figure 2, Item
2) connected to alternator (Figure 2, Item 3) with the arrow (Figure 2, Item 5) of the ammeter facing the direc-
tion of current flow (towards the alternator).
5. Start the engine (TM 5-3805-293-10), and fully depress and hold throttle pedal.
6. Operate engine for approximately ten minutes with throttle fully depressed while monitoring ammeter.
a. If initial charging current is greater than 70 amps, proceed to step 7.
b. If initial charging current is less than 70 amps, alternator is faulty. Replace alternator (WP 0094).
