FUEL INJECTION TIMING CHECK

1. Set number one piston at top center piston on compression stroke (WP 0032).
2. Remove fuel injection pump (WP 0074).
3. Align lever of timing tool (Figure 18, Item 2) with key slot on fuel injection pump shaft (Figure 18, Item 3).
4. Install timing tool (Figure 18, Item 2) on fuel injection pump shaft (Figure 18, Item 3).
N OT E
There should be no resistance when locking pin is inserted.
5. Engage pin (Figure 18, Item 1) into hole on face of fuel pump (Figure 18, Item 4).
a. If locking pin can be inserted into hole, fuel injection pump timing is correct, proceed to step 6.
b. If locking pin cannot be inserted, proceed to step 8.
6. Remove pin (Figure 18, Item 1) and timing tool (Figure 18, Item 2) from fuel injection pump shaft (Figure 18,
Item 3).
7. Install fuel pump on engine (WP 0074).
