AIR-IN-FUEL TEST

1. Ensure fuel level in fuel tank is at least 1/4 tank full (TM 5-3805-293-10).
2. Visually inspect the following fuel system components for leaks such as wetness around fittings or dripping
fuel.
a. Six fuel injector lines and fittings (Figure 20, Item 1). If condition found, replace fuel lines (WP 0072).
b. Seven fuel injector rail lines and fittings (Figure 20, Item 2). If condition found, replace fuel lines (WP
0072).
c.
ECM fuel line and fitting (Figure 20, Item 3) at engine ECM (Figure 20, Item 4) and at rear of fuel injection
pump (Figure 20, Item 7). If condition found, replace fuel line (WP 0173).
d. ECM fuel line and fitting (Figure 20, Item 5) at engine ECM (Figure 20, Item 4), and fuel line (Figure 20,
Item 8) at secondary fuel filter base (Figure 20, Item 11). If condition found, replace fuel line (WP 0173).
e. Fuel return line and fittings (Figure 20, Item 6). If condition found, replace fuel line (WP 0173).
f.
Fuel injection pump (Figure 20, Item 9). If condition found, replace fuel injection pump (WP 0074).
g. Secondary fuel filter (Figure 20, Item 10). If condition found, replace fuel filter (WP 0073).
h. Secondary fuel filter base (Figure 20, Item 11) lines and fittings. If condition found, replace fuel line (WP
0173).
