Always inspect the harness connectorsthat are involved in the circuit.
Poor connections can often be the cause of a problem in an electrical
circuit. Verify that all connections in the circuit are clean and secure,
and that all connections are in good condition. If a problem with a con-
nection is found, correct the problem and verify that this diagnostic code
is Active before performing this procedure.
Perform open or short circuit test ateach harness connection to identify
correct harness to replace.
Perform this test only if condition is active.
Test Step 1. Verify if Code 0296-09
is Active.
1. Connect MSD (WP 0006). Select 0296-09 Code Active - Proceed to
Implement 120M and verify 0296- step 2.
09 is active.
0296-09 Code Not Active -
Troubleshooting complete.
2. Using MSD (WP 0006), select
0247-09 Code Active - Perform Test
Implement 120M and verify 0247- Step 2.
09 or 0248-09 are active.
0248-09 Code Active - Perform Test

disconnect switch to the OFF
position (TM 5-3805-293-10).
2. Disconnect harness connector P-
C41 (WP 0009, Figure 68) from
implement ECM J1 (WP 0009,
Figure 69) (WP 0268).
3. Disconnect harness connector
FA-C17 (WP 0009, Figure 14)
from engine ECM J1.
4. Install a jumper wire between
engine ECM harness connector
FA-C17 (WP 0009, Figure 14) ter-
minals 23 and terminal 24.
