TM 5-3805-263-14&P-1DRIVING THE REAR FRAMENOTEOperation of this equipment presents a noisehazard to personnel in limits for unprotectedpersonnel. Wear ear muffs or plugs whichwere fitted by a trained professional.Remote control operation is easily accomplished by oneperson. A second is needed to aid in starting andaligning the frames for reassembly.NOTEThe back-up alarm should sound when the transmissiondirection lever is placed in reverse (R).1.Turn the battery disconnect switch "ON." Movethe throttle to the low idle position. Start theengine. The ether starting aid may be requiredin cold weather conditions.WARNINGStop the unit immediately if the "LOW AIR"indicator should light. Determine the sourceof the problem and correct before continuingoperation. The "LOW AIR" light will come onmomentarily whileWARNINGNever shift to any gear higher than "1st GEAR".2.Shift the transmission to "1st GEAR."3.Move the transmission directional control to thedesired direction.4.Move the differential lock switch to OFF. Pushthe emergency brake control.5.Engage the clutch gradually by rotating the cablecontrol. Stop additional clutch engagementwhen the engine starts to lug.6.Release the service brakes with the button onthe steering control.WARNINGUse extreme caution when operating with theremote control. Be ready at all times torelease the steering control button and pullthe emergency brake control if a dangeroussituation should occur.7.When moving the machine in the forwarddirection, pulling the steering control toward youwill turn the machine toward you (LEFT TURN).Pushing the steering control away from you willturn the machine away from you (RIGHT TURN).Operating the machine in the reverse directionwill reverse the turn direction for the samesteering control movement. If the terrain andground condition dictate, move the differentiallock switch to "ON" to drive straight with all fourwheels driving. Do not steer with the switch"ON."NOTEAdditional clutch engagement may be requiredto slide the wheels when turning, dependingon ground conditions.8.Move the unit as required.NOTEReleasing the button on the steering controlwill apply the service brakes and stop themachine.9.To stop and park the unit, release the steeringcontrol button, carefully disengage the clutch,set the emergency brake, shift to neutral, closethe throttle to stop the engine and turn thebattery disconnect switch to "OFF."107
