Clean commuta-tor lightly with No. 00 Gritsandpaper and remove all tracesof dust with low pressurecompressed air.INSPECTIONInspect all parts. Refer to Chapter 2.ASSEMBLY1.Install bushing (54) on fieldcoil (51, Figure 4-80) pinterminal.2.Position four pole shoes (52) infield coil (51) the same way asmarked.NOTECareful installation of thefield coil is necessary toprevent shorting or groundingof the field coil as poleshoes are tightened intoplace.3.Using pole shoe spreader, installfield coil (51) in housing (53).Pull pin terminal through bore ofhousing (53).4.Install eight screws (50) andtighten to 42 ft-lb torque.Go to Sheet 84-71Figure 4-82.Figure 4-80.
