TM 5-3805-261-34STEERING MAINTENANCE.8-5.Steering Cylinder.(Sheet 2 of 6)REMOVALNOTEThe following is a maintenance procedurefor the left hydraulic steering cylinder.The maintenance procedure for the righthydraulic steering cylinder is identical.1.Remove bolt (1), washer (2), clip (3) and pin (4,Figure 8-13) from top of axle bracket on left sideof front axle.WARNINGHigh pressure hydraulics operate thisequipment. NEVER disconnect any hydrauliclines or fittings without checking the manualto see how to drop the pressure to zero.Failure to follow this procedure may causeINJURY. If you are injured, seek medicalaid immediately.NOTEAll hose and tube assemblies must betagged before disconnecting to aid ininstallation. Cap all hose and tube endsto prevent contamination.2.Disconnect hose assemblies (5 and 6) from cylinder(20).3.Remove elbow (7) and preformed packing (8).Discard preformed packing (8).4.Remove connector (9) and preformed packing (10).Discard preformed packing (10).Go to Sheet 38-13Figure 8-13.
