(Sheet 8 of 9)INSTALLATION26.Position gear (3, Figure 3-20) onfuel injection pump camshaft.27.With the flat side of the washeraway from the gear, install washer(2) and bolt (1). Bolt (1) shouldbe finger tightened.28.Install adapter on gear (3).29.Using two torque wrenches, put aclockwise force of 50 ft-lb onadapter to remove gear backlash,while bolt (1) is tightened to199 + 18 ft-lb torque.30.Remove pin from fuel injectionpump housing (Figure 3-33).31.Remove 3/8-16NC bolt fromflywheel.NOTESteps 32 thru 38 are torecheck timing to insure itis correct.32.Turn crankshaft clockwise (asseen from front of engine)approximately 1/2 turn.33.Install pin in fuel injectionpump housing.34.While crankshaft is turnedclockwise (as seen from front ofengine), push pin until it slidesinto groove on fuel injectionpump camshaft.Go to Sheet 9Figure 3-20.3-45
