00042
1. Turn battery disconnect switch to the OFF position (TM 5-3805-293-10).
2. Release two latches (Figure 14, Item 9) from arctic heater battery cover (Figure 14, Item 1).
3. With an assistant remove arctic heater battery cover (Figure 14, Item 1).
4. Disconnect arctic heater negative battery cable (Figure 14, Item 4) from arctic heater battery (Figure 14,
Item 6).
5. Disconnect arctic heater positive battery cable (Figure 14, Item 3) from arctic heater battery (Figure 14,
Item 8).
6. Using digital multimeter, measure voltage between arctic heater positive battery post (Figure 14, Item 2) of
arctic heater battery (Figure 14, Item 8) and negative battery post (Figure 14, Item 5) of arctic heater battery
(Figure 14, Item 6). Monitor and record voltage. Battery voltage should be at least 24 volts.
a. Voltage is equal to value recorded, connect positive arctic battery cable, then negative arctic battery cable
to batteries and proceed to step 11.
b. Voltage is less than value recorded in step 6, replace arctic heater jumper battery cable (Figure 14, Item 7)
between batteries. Proceed to step 7.
7. Connect arctic heater positive battery cable (Figure 14, Item 3) on arctic heater battery (Figure 14, Item 8).
8. Connect arctic heater negative battery cable (Figure 14, Item 4) on arctic heater battery (Figure 14, Item 6).
9. With an assistant, install arctic heater battery cover (Figure 14, Item 1).
10. Set two latches (Figure 14, Item 9) on arctic heater battery cover (Figure 14, Item 1). End of Task.
