After Starting the Engine
Be sure the indicators and gauges function properly.
Make sure the parking/emergency brake is applied.
1.
Keep the engine speed low until the oil pressure
indicator goes out. If the oil pressure indicator does not
go out within six seconds, stop the engine. Investigate
and correct the cause.
2.
When the starting temperature is below 0°C
(320F), move all of the hydraulic controls slowly to warm
the oil. Cycle each cylinder several times. The normal
warmup period is 3 to 10 minutes.
3.
Operate the engine under a light load for five
minutes.
It is possible to start the engine when the transmission
control lever is not in NEUTRAL. If this happens, move
the lever to NEUTRAL, then to the desired gear.
4.
If the machine has a loss of power or the
exhaust smoke is black, service the fuel filter, refer to
Maintenance.
5.
Check the engine oil level. Keep the oil level
between the ADD and FULL marks on the ENGINE
RUNNING side of the dipstick.
