2.
If enough preheating is used, very little or no
ether will be needed. Even though the engine
may start, all other compartments are cold and
must have fluids which can be pumped at
starting temperature. Otherwise, the machine
must be tented and heated.
3.
Exercise the machine for one hour before
starting normal operation.
NOTE
This applies if the engine and
battery compartment are closed
and heated. On an unprotected
machine, the wind can chill the
machine faster than the heater
can heat it.
CAUTION
When using canvas covers, do not
install them near exhaust systems.
This helps prevent fires.
Using External Electrical Source
To
prevent
possible
personal
injury
protective
eyewear
is
recommended for anyone working
around batteries.
Use
care
when
attaching
or
removing
booster
cables
from
machine
to
prevent
possible
sparking. Do not allow cable ends
to contact each other.
To prevent personal injury, never
connect a 24 volt booster charge
across a single 12 volt battery, this
can cause an explosion.
1.
Turn OFF the disconnect switch.
2.
Attach positive (+) jumper cable to the positive
battery terminal which is connected directly to the starter
solenoid, (this cable should be, and normally is, red).
Attach the opposite end of positive (+) cable to the
positive (+) terminal of external starting source.
3.
Attach negative (-) jumper cable to the negative
battery terminal of the battery which is connected to the
disconnect switch (this will be the battery opposite the
battery connected to the starter solenoid). Attach the
opposite end of the negative (-) cable to the negative (-)
terminal of the external starting source.
4.
Turn the disconnect switch ON and start the
engine. Remove the jumper cables in the reverse order
that they were attached.
