(Sheet 13 of 23)ASSEMBLY10.Heat two bearings (104) in oil toa maximum temperature of 275degrees F and install on twocovers (100, Figure 10-48).11.Install one of two new preformedpackings (103) and enough shim(s)(102 and 101) to obtain a shimthickness of 0.15 inch on one oftwo covers (100).12.Install one cover (100) on body(118).13.Install four of eight lockwashers(99) and bolts (98). Tightenbolts (98) to 32 ft-lb torque.14.Position second cover (100) onopposite side of other cover(100) with shim(s) (102 and 101).15.Install remaining four of eightlockwashers (99) and bolts (98).Tighten bolts (98) evenly in aclockwise direction to 40 lb-intorque in steps of 10 lb-intorque.
