(Sheet 4 of 10)REMOVAL (cont)5.Remove plug (9) and seal (10)from outer housing (8, Figure5-129).6.Remove rings (11 and 12) andwasher (13, Figure 5-130) fromlower rear, left side of vehicle.Discard seal (13).7.Remove 19 nuts (14) and washers(15).8.Using saddle and floor jack,support items 16 thru 39 as anassembly. Use rags betweensaddle and floor jack and items16 thru 39 as an assembly (Figure5-131) to prevent damage tohousing.Weight of housing is approxi-mately 360 lbs. Use adequatehoist and sling for lifting.Failure to follow thisprocedure may cause INJURY.If you are injured, seekmedical aid immediately.9.Install two 3/4-10NC forcingscrews in housing (39). Tighteneach forcing screw a small amountat a time, alternating betweenscrews, until housing (39) hasbeen moved far enough out on thestuds to install a bracket andhoist on housing (39). Put axlein position in housing (39) tokeep items 16 thru 39 as anassembly in balance. Usingbracket and hoist, carefullyremove items 16 thru 39 as anassembly from vehicle.
