TM 5-3805-261-34 REAR AXLE MAINTENANCE. 5-23. Final Drive Assembly. (Sheet 3 of 10) REMOVAL NOTE The following is a mainte- nance procedure for the left side final drive. The maintenance procedure for the right side final drive is identical. 1. Remove preformed packing (1) and roller bearing (2, Figure 5-125) from lower rear, left side of vehicle. Discard preformed packing (1). 2. Remove 16 bolts (3), washers (4), retainer (5), shim(s) (6) and washer (7, Figure 5-126). Tie shim(s) (6) together and tag for identification. 3. Support items 8 and 9 as an assembly (Figure 5-127) and install two 5/8-11NC eyebolts. Position forklift under items 8 and 9 as an assembly. Secure ratchet assembly to forklift and secure cables to eyebolts. 4. Using ratchet assembly and cables, remove items 8 and 9 as an assembly (Figure 5-128) from vehicle. Figure 5-125. Figure 5-126.
