Using ohmmeter, take three readingsbetween pairs of the three stator (28) wires.Replace if readings are not 0.15 to 0.25 ohm.9.Test stator (28) for shorts to frame. Usingohmmeter, touch one lead to stator (28) frameand touch the other to each of the three stator(28) wires. Readings should be very high. If not,replace stator (28).10. Perform minus diode test. Using ohmmeter,connect test wire to frame (54) and the otherwire to each of the terminals on the diodeassembly (39) from where the three stator (28)wires were disconnected. Then switch the testwires from diode assembly (39) terminals toframe (54). If one high and one low reading arenot obtained, replace diode assembly (39, Figure4-25).11. Perform positive diode test the same way asminus diode test, except connect one lead to the(B+) terminal (Figure 4-30). Results should bethe same.12. Perform excitation diode test, connecting onetest wire to (D+) terminal.CLEANINGClean all parts. Refer to Chapter 2.INSPECTIONInspect all parts.
