MULTIMETER USAGE CONTINUED
3. Measuring DC Voltage.
a. Select VOLTS DC.
b. Select LOWEST VOLTAGE/OHMS range for voltage range that is higher than volts to be measured.
c.
Connect red probe to positive (+) pin and black probe to negative (-) pin.
d. Observe readout as DC voltage in circuit being tested.

RELAY INSPECTION AND TESTING
000347
1. Inspecting Relays.
a. Check for bent or damaged pins.
b. Check for burned or damaged relay case.
2. Testing Relays.
N OT E
When testing relays, always refer to the circuit diagram printed or stamped on relay case.
A 9V battery also may be used to actuate relay.
a. Using a multimeter, check for continuity across relay coil.
b. Using a multimeter, check open or closed contacts within relay.
Mini Relay
(1) With relay actuated, check for continuity between terminals 87 and 30.
(2) With relay not actuated, check for continuity between terminals 87a and 30.
Micro Relay
(1) With relay actuated, check for continuity between terminals 4 and 3.
(2) With relay not actuated, check for continuity between terminals 5 and 3.
