HOW ADAPTERS AFFECT TORQUE LIMITS

When using adapters or extensions that increase the length of the torque wrench, the applied torque will be greater
than the torque wrench setting.
N OT E
Adapters that add 1 in. (2.5 cm) or less to the torque wrench length do not require
recalculation of torque. Only if the required torque has an exceedingly tight tolerance
should the new torque be recalculated.
Adapters that do not increase the overall length of the adapter will not affect the torque reading, as shown in the
example below:

When measuring the adapter, measure only the distance the torque wrench is extended by the adapter, as shown
in the example below:
