COMPENSATOR (SERVICE BRAKE) TEST AND ADJUST

This test determines the amount of wear to the brake discs, which determines if the brake
pack needs to be replaced. The adjustment keeps piston travel to a minimum.
1. Fully depress brake pedal (TM 5-3805-293-10).
2. Loosen nut (Figure 78, Item 2) on compensator (Figure 78, Item 1).
N OT E
If compensator contacts nut first, brake pack must be replaced.
3. Turn in compensator (Figure 78, Item 1) until compensator (Figure 78, Item 1) contacts piston.
4. Back off compensator (Figure 78, Item 1) 2-1/8 1/8 turn.
5. While holding compensator (Figure 78, Item 1), tighten nut (Figure 78, Item 2).

6. Repeat steps 1 through 5 for other service brakes.
