SERVICE BRAKES TEST

WARN I N G
Personal injury can result if machine moves while checking service brake. If machine
begins to move during check, reduce engine speed immediately and engage parking
brake.
N OT E
If it is necessary to engage parking brake while machine is moving, damage may occur to
transmission and/or parking brake.
1. Make sure that area around machine is clear of personnel and obstacles.
2. Test brakes on a hard, dry, level surface.
3. Fasten seat belt (TM 5-3805-293-10).
4. Start engine and disengage parking brake switch (TM 5-3805-293-10).
5. Slightly raise blade (TM 5-3805-293-10).
6. Depress transmission modulator control pedal (inching pedal) and service brake control pedal simultaneously
(TM 5-3805-293-10).
7. Move transmission direction control to FORWARD position (TM 5-3805-293-10).
N OT E
Upshift or downshift must be completed within two seconds.
8. Use upshift button or downshift button to place transmission in FIFTH SPEED (TM 5-3805-293-10).
9. Increase engine speed to wide open throttle (TM 5-3805-293-10).
10. Gradually release transmission modulator control (TM 5-3805-293-10).
11. Machine should not move and engine should stall.
12. Move transmission direction control to NEUTRAL position (TM 5-3805-293-10).
13. Start engine (TM 5-3805-293-10).
14. Lower blade to ground (TM 5-3805-293-10).
15. Perform Brake Control Valve (Service) Check in this work package, if any of the following conditions exist:
Wheels rotate.
Engine does not stall.
16. Shut off engine (TM 5-3805-293-10).
