WATER PUMP INSPECTION

Water pump seal is lubricated by coolant in cooling system. It is normal for a Class I or
Class II leak to occur as engine cools down and parts contract.
1. Start and run the engine for at least 10 minutes (TM 5-3805-293-10).
2. Inspect water pump (Figure 7, Item 1) for leaks at vent hole. Vent hole is located behind metal tab (Figure 7,
Item 2).
a. If Class III leak is identified, replace water pump (WP 0082).
b. If no leaks are identified, proceed to step 3.
