ENGINE VALVE LASH INSPECT/ADJUST CONTINUED
Valve Mechanism Cover Installation
C AU T I O N
Ensure harness assemblies are not in contact with the rocker arms or pinched by the valve
mechanism cover.
Ensure the gasket is fully seated into the groove of the valve mechanism cover.
Failure to follow these cautions may result in damage to equipment.
1. Install new gasket, valve mechanism cover (Figure 17, Item 1) and 15 bolts (Figure 17, Item 5) on valve
mechanism cover base (Figure 17, Item 4). Tighten bolts in sequence shown (Figure 16) to 79 lb-in. (9 Nm).

2. Connect breather hose (Figure 17, Item 3) to crankcase breather (Figure 17, Item 2).
