Always inspect the harness connectorsthat are involved in the circuit.
Poor connections can often be the cause of a problem in an electrical
circuit. Verify that all connections in the circuit are clean and secure,
and that all connections are in good condition. If a problem with a con-
nection is found, correct the problem and verify that this diagnostic code
is Active before performing this procedure.
Perform open or short circuit test ateach harness connection to identify
correct harness to replace.
Perform this test only if condition is active.
Test Step 1. Verify if Code 0596-14
is Active.
1. Connect MSD (WP 0006). Select
0596-14 Code Active - Proceed to
Trans/Chassis 120M and verify
step 2.
0596-14 is active.
0596-14 Code Not Active - Trouble-
shooting complete.
2. Program the transmission ECM
and the Implement 1 ECM (WP
3. Using MSD (WP 0006), select
0596-14 Code Active - Replace the
Trans/Chassis 120M and verify
transmission ECM (WP 0137) and the
0596-14 is not active.
Implement 1 ECM (WP 0268).
