Always inspect the harness connectorsthat are involved in the circuit.
Poor connections can often be the cause of a problem in an electrical
circuit. Verify that all connections in the circuit are clean and secure,
and that all connections are in good condition. If a problem with a
connection is found, correct the problem and verify that this diagnostic
code is Active before performing this procedure.
Perform open or short circuit test ateach harness connection to identify
correct harness to replace.
Perform this test only if condition is Active.
Test Step 1. Verify if Code 0168-01
is Active in Trans/Chassis ECM.
Code 0168-01 Active - Perform
Trans/Chassis 120M and verify
charging system tests (WP 0040).
0168-01 is active.
Proceed to step 2.
Code 0168-01 Not Active - Proceed
to Test Step 2.
0168-01 Code Active - Repeat trou-
All Wheel Drive 120M and verify
bleshooting code from the beginning.
0168-01 is not active.
0168-01 Code Not Active - Trouble-
shooting complete.
Test Step 2. Test Unswitched Bat-
tery (+) Circuits for Open in Cab
Lower Wiring Harness.
1. Turn ignition switch and battery
disconnect switch to the OFF
position.
2. Disconnect cab lower wiring P-
C35 harness connector (WP
0009, Figure 53) from AWD ECM
0270).
