TESTING AND ADJUSTING
PROBLEM 6
SYMPTOMS:
EMS steering indicator LED and master fault light FLASHES
until engine starts, then goes OFF. Motor operates for 3
seconds, but motor status light does not go ON.
Possible Causes:
A. Motor status light bulb burnt out.
B. Circuit between magnetic switch and motor status light
open.
Troubleshooting:
a) Replace bulb.
b) With engine stopped and disconnect switch OFF, check for
continuity between the light receptacle terminal and the
magnetic switch large terminal with the small wire on it. If
open, repair or make replacement of the wire.
PROBLEM 7
SYMPTOMS: EMS steering indicator LED and EMS master fault light does not
stop FLASHING after engine starts; warning horn ON when
engine running, but motor status light and motor are OFF.
Possible Causes:
A. One of the two sure seal connectors at electronic control
module is not properly mated (fitted together).
B. No voltage to electronic control module as measured from
connector receptacle socket Y2 to socket Y8.
C. Bad electronic control module.
D. Bad EMS panel.
Troubleshooting:
a) Open and put back together the sure seal connectors.
b) Check circuit for open. Check O1A fuse. Check disconnect
switch.
c) If the above items check okay, replace control module.
d) If above items check okay, replace EMS panel.
