SUPPLEMENTAL: STEERING SYSTEM
PROBLEM 3
SYMPTOMS:
Supplemental steering motor status light is ON and motor runs
when dump valve pin is pressed down while engine is running;
EMS steering indicator LED and master fault light FLASH and
the horn is ON.
Possible Causes:
A. Dump valve switch assembly is positioned too far from pin;
or switch is bad.
B. Open in dump valve circuit.
C. Bad electronic control module.
Troubleshooting:
a) With engine stopped and disconnect switch OFF,
disconnect the sure seal connector from the dump valve
switch terminals. Depress the dump valve and check for
continuity. If no continuity, adjust the switch. If no continuity
after adjustment, replace the dump valve switch.
b) With the engine stopped and disconnect switch OFF,
disconnect the large electronic control module connector.
Check for continuity between pin Y6 and socket Y8 with
dump valve pedal pressed down (switch checked in step a).
If no continuity, repair or make replacement of wire in switch
circuit.
c) If the above items check OK, make a replacement of the
electronic control module.
PROBLEM 4
SYMPTOMS:
EMS steering indicator LED and master fault light FLASHES;
supplemental steering motor status light ON and motor runs
after engine stops.
Possible Causes:
A.
Governor switch adjustment not correct, or bad switch.
B.
Open in governor switch circuit.
C.
Bad electronic control module.
Troubleshooting:
a)
Pull the accelerator pedal into the engine shutdown position.
Turn disconnect switch OFF. Disconnect wires at switch
terminals. Check continuity across the switch terminals. If
no continuity, adjust switch. If still no continuity, make a
replacement of the switch.
b) With disconnect switch OFF and the accelerator pedal in
the shutdown position, disconnect the large connector to the
electronic control module. Check for continuity between pin
3 and socket 8 of the receptacle. If open, repair or make
replacement of wire in the governor switch circuit.
c) If above items check okay, replace the electronic control
module.
