(Sheet 3 of 20)DISASSEMBLY1.Remove bolt (1), retainer (2) andcoupling (3, Figure 14-1) fromtransmission on torque converterside.2.Install two 1/2-13NC forgedeyebolts (Figure 14-2).WARNINGWeight of transmissionassembly is approximately1500 lbs. Use adequate hoistand sling for lifting.Failure to follow thisprocedure may cause INJURY.If you are injured, seekmedical aid immediately.3.Attach hoist and sling to two1/2-13NC forged eyebolts andlifting eyes (54) on transmissionhousing.4.Lift transmission assembly andplace on wood blocks with torqueconverter side down.5.Remove hoist and sling.6.Remove bolt (4). retainer (5) andpreformed packing (6, Figure14-3). Discard preformed packing(6).7.Remove five bolts (7) and lock-washers (8).8.Install two 3/8-16NC forcingscrews in one of two bearingcages (16).9.Evenly and gradually tighten two3/8-16NC forcing screws andremove one of two items 9 thru 16as an assembly.Go to Sheet 414-5Figure 14-1.Figure 14-2.Figure 14-3.
