EVACUATION CONTINUED
8. After vacuum in A/C system is between 28 inHg and 29 inHg (95 kPa and 98 kPa), operate vacuum pump for a
minimum of 90 minutes.
N OT E
Evacuating procedure removes air and moisture from the system. Do not use the vacuum
pump primarily to indicate a system leak.
9. If specified vacuum cannot be reached, A/C system may have a leak. Repair all leaks and repeat steps 1
through 8.
10. After 28 inHg to 29 inHg (95 kPa to 98 kPa) vacuum has been reached and held for an additional 90 minutes,
close manifold gauge set low-side valve (Figure 2, Item 6) and high-side valve (Figure 2, Item 2) completely.
11. Turn OFF vacuum pump. Refer to vacuum pump OEM manual for operating instructions.
N OT E
Excessive vacuum loss indicates a possible leak in the system.
Amount of vacuum loss in 5 mnutes must not be more than 2 inHg (7 kPa). If vacuum loss
i
exceeds maximum, repair all leaks and repeat steps 1 through 11.
12. If vacuum loss does not exceed 2 inHg (7 kPa) in 5 minutes, system is ready to charge.
