1. Lubricate sealing surface of new front oil seal (Figure 2, Item 1) with clean engine oil.

If the crankshaft front seal is supplied wih a sleeve, remove the sleeve from the
t
crankshaft front seal before installation.
Install front oil seal to a depth of 0.256 0.008 in. (6.5 0.2 mm) into engine front housing.
Short side of seal installer tool must face front oil seal to install to proper depth.
2. Install plate (Figure 2, Item 2), three bolts (Figure 2, Item 3), and seal inserter stud (Figure 2, Item 10) on
crankshaft (Figure 2, Item 1). Hand tighten only.
3. Install new front seal (Figure 2, Item 4), seal inserter (Figure 2, Item 5), bushing sleeve (Figure 2, Item 6), plate
(Figure 2, Item 7), washer (Figure 2, Item 8) and nut (Figure 2, Item 9) on seal inserter stud (Figure 2, Item 10).
4. Tighten nut (Figure 2, Item 9) until front seal (Figure 2, Item 4) is installed into front engine housing (Figure 2,
Item 11).
5. Remove nut (Figure 2, Item 9), washer (Figure 2, Item 8), plate (Figure 2, Item 7), bushing sleeve (Figure 2,
Item 6) and seal inserter (Figure 2, Item 5) from seal inserter stud (Figure 2, Item 10).
6. Remove seal inserter stud (Figure 2, Item 10), three bolts (Figure 2, Item 3) and plate (Figure 2, Item 2) from
crankshaft (Figure 2, Item 1).
