Table 2. Engine Troubleshooting with Codes for the 120M Motor Grader - Continued.
CDI FMI CODE
ERROR/EVENT
CORRECTIVE ACTION
0041-04 8 Volt DC Supply
System Response:
Voltage Below Normal
ECM will log diagnostic code and a
warning will appear on instrument
panel while this diagnostic code is
active. An active diagnostic code may
not cause any noticeable effect on
engine response unless voltage drops
below 6.5 Volts DC.
Possible Performance Effect:
Engine may go into "limp mode" or
low idle.

The 8-Volt supply circuit is a common supply circuit which is bussed
internally of the Engine ECM. Output of the 8-Volt supply circuit is at
Engine ECM J1-43 and J2-10. The 8-Volt supply circuit 996-GN is
spliced externally of the Engine ECM from J2-10 and is supplied to the
engine speed sensor and the secondary engine (Cam) speed sensor
(on the fuel injection pump). The 8-Volt supply circuit J844-GY is sup-
plied to the throttle position sensor from the Engine ECM from J1-43.
Test Step 1. Test 8-Volt Supply Cir-
cuit.

Always inspect the harness connectorsthat are involved in the circuit.
Poor connections can often be the cause of a problem in an electrical
circuit. Verify that all connections in the circuit are clean and secure,
and that all connections are in good condition. If a problem with a
connection is found, correct the problem and verify that this diagnostic
code is active before performing this procedure.
Perform open or short circuit test ateach harness connection to identify
correct harness to replace.
Perform this test only if condition is active.
Engine ECM C6.6 120M and ver-
ify 0041-04 is active.

4. Remove pedal assembly cover
(WP 0288).
