(Sheet 6 of 8)ASSEMBLYCAUTIONWhen installing new inserts, neverexpand the diameter of theextractor tooling when installingthe insert.1.Lower four exhaust inserts (6) and intakeinserts (7, Figure 3-66) on cylinder head.Temperature should be approximately minus54 degrees F.2.Grind and install, if removed, using extractortool for four intake inserts (7) and extractortool for four exhaust inserts (6), along withhandle assembly to drive insert in until seatedon counterbore of cylinder head.3.Measure valve recess. Valve must always bebelow combustion surface with no protrusion.NOTEEight guides need to contract enoughto allow easy fit into cylinder.NOTEUse dry ice to lower temperature ofguides.4.Lower temperature of eight guides (5).5.Install eight new guides (5, Figure 3-68), ifremoved. Using suitable driver and press,install eight new guides (5) so they extendabove top of cylinder head to properdimension. Minimum diameter of bore of eightnew guides (5) after installation is 0.3723 inch.Remove all burrs and clean eight new guides(5)after installation.Figure 3-68.Go to Sheet 73-83
