Turbine and Turbine Housing Inspection

1. Inspect turbine housing (Figure 11, Item 2) for carbon build up, foreign material or chipped or broken turbine
vanes (Figure 11, Item 1).
a. If condition found, replace turbocharger (WP 0077)
b. Turbine OK, proceed to step 2.
2. Inspect for noisy bearings or rubbing of turbine vanes (Figure 11, Item 1) on turbine housing (Figure 11, Item 2)
by rotating turbine vanes (Figure 11, Item 1) by hand. Push assembly sideways while rotating turbine vanes
(Figure 11, Item 1).
a. If condition found, replace turbocharger (WP 0077).
b. If turbine OK, proceed to step 3.
3. Inspect turbine vanes (Figure 11, Item 1), turbine housing, and turbocharger center housing (Figure 11, Item 3)
for oil coking.
a. If condition found, proceed to Turbocharger Oil Drain Line Inspection in this work package.
b. Turbine and turbocharger center housing OK, install turbocharger (WP 0077), and return to
troubleshooting.
