Procedure

N OT E
If engine will not start, disconnect fuel inje tor harness connectors (WP 0103) at valve
c
cover in order to prevent engine from inadvertently starting.
Do not crank engine for more than 30 second . Wait at least 3 minutes before cranking
s
engine to allow starter motor to cool.
1. Attempt to start engine (TM 5-3805-293-10).
a. If engine will not start, proceed to step 2.
b. If engine starts, proceed to step 3.
2. Crank the engine for 30 seconds. Monitor and record amount of fuel that has been collected in container from
leak off connector. Perform test three times. Calculate average of three values.
a. If average of fuel samples collected is less than 1.3 oz. (38 mL), fuel injection leak off is OK. Go to step 4.
b. If fuel sample collected is more than 1.3 oz. (38 mL), then a high fuel injector leak off condition exists,
replace all fuel injectors (WP 0075). Go to step 4.
3. Run engine for 3 minutes. Monitor and record amount of fuel that has been collected in container from leak off
connector.
a. If fuel sample collected is less than 24.35 oz. (720 mL), fuel injector leak off is OK.
b. If fuel sample collected is more than 24.35 oz. (720 mL), then a high injector leak off condition exists,
replace all fuel injectors (WP 0075).
4. Remove fuel hose (Figure 36, Item 5), fuel leak off connector (Figure 36, Item 4), sealing washer (Figure 36,
Item 3), secondary fuel tube (Figure 36, Item 2), and sealing washer (Figure 36, Item 1) from fuel injector pump
(Figure 36, Item 6). Discard washers.
