Always inspect the harness connectorsthat are involved in the circuit.
Poor connections can often be the cause of a problem in an electrical
circuit. Verify that all connections in the circuit are clean and secure,
and that all connections are in good condition. If a problem with a con-
nection is found, correct the problem and verify that this diagnostic code
is active before performing this procedure.
Perform open or short circuit test ateach harness connection to identify
correct harness to replace.
Perform this test only if condition is active.
Test Step 1. Test for Active Code.
1. Using MSD (WP 0006), select
2171-05 Code Active - Proceed to
implement 120M and verify 2171-
Test Step 2.
05 is active.
2171-05 Code Not Active -
Troubleshooting complete.
Test Step 2. Test for Faulty
Articulate Left Solenoid.
1. Turn ignition switch and battery
disconnect switch to the OFF
position.
2. Disconnect front attachment wir-
ing harness connector U-C26
(WP 0009, Figure 224) from artic-
ure 225) (WP 0180).
3. Connect jumper wire between
front attachment wiring harness
connector U-C26 (WP 0009, Fig-
ure 224) terminal 1 and terminal
2.
4. Using MSD (WP 0006), select
2171-06 Code Active - Replace
implement 120M and check if
code 2171-06 becomes active.
Proceed to step 5.
2171-05 Code Remains Active -
Proceed to Test Step 3.
5. Using MSD (WP 0006), select
2171-05 Code Active - Repeat
implement 120M ECM and verify
troubleshooting code from the
2171-05 is not active.
