Always inspect the harness connectorsthat are involved in the circuit.
Poor connections can often be the cause of a problem in an electrical
circuit. Verify that all connections in the circuit are clean and secure,
and that all connections are in good condition. If a problem with a con-
nection is found, correct the problem and verify that this diagnostic code
is active before performing this procedure.
Perform open or short circuit test ateach harness connection to identify
correct harness to replace.
Perform this test only if condition is active.
Test Step 1. Test for Active Code.
1. Using MSD (WP 0006), select
2170-05 Code Active - Proceed to
implement control #2 and verify
Test Step 2.
2170-05 is active.
2170-05 Code Not Active -
Troubleshooting complete.
Test Step 2. Test for Faulty Circle
Sideshift Right Solenoid.
1. Turn ignition switch and battery
disconnect switch to the OFF
position.
2. Disconnect front attachment wir-
ing harness connector U-C44
(WP 0009, Figure 222) from circle
Figure 223) (WP 0180).
3. Connect jumper wire between
front attachment wiring harness
connector U-C44 (WP 0009, Fig-
ure 222) terminal 1 and terminal
2.
2170-06 Code Active - Replace circle
4. Using MSD (WP 0006), select
implement control #2 and check if
code 2170-06 becomes active.
Proceed to step 5.
2170-05 Code Remains Active -
Proceed to Test Step 3.
5. Using MSD (WP 0006), select
2170-05 Code Active - Repeat
implement control #2 ECM and
troubleshooting code from the
verify 2170-05 is not active.
