Always inspect the harness connectorsthat are involved in the circuit.
Poor connections can often be the cause of a problem in an electrical
circuit. Verify that all connections in the circuit are clean and secure,
and that all connections are in good condition. If a problem with a
connection is found, correct the problem and verify that this diagnostic
code is active before performing this procedure.
Perform open or short circuit test ateach harness connection to identify
correct harness to replace.
Perform this test only if condition is active.
Test Step 1. Verify if Code 0177-04
is Active.
1. Connect MSD (WP 0006). Select
Trans/Chassis 120M and verify
0177-04 is active.
2. Turn ignition switch and battery
disconnect switch to the OFF
position (TM 5-3805-293-10).
3. Disconnect transmission harness
connector T-C13 (WP 0009, Fig-
ure 131) from transmission oil
temperature sensor (WP 0009,
Figure 132).
4. Turn battery disconnect switch
and ignition switch to the ON posi-
tion (TM 5-3805-293-10).
5. Using MSD (WP 0006), select
0177-03 Code Becomes Active -
Trans/Chassis 120M and verify
Replace transmission oil temperature
0177-03 becomes active.
sensor (WP 0151).
Proceed to step 6
0177-04 Code Remains Active - Pro-
ceed to Test Step 2.
6. Using the MSD (WP 0006), select
0177-04 Code Remains Active -
Repeat troubleshooting from the
Trans/Chassis 120M and verify
beginning of this diagnostic code.
0177-04 is not active.
0177-04 Code Not Active - Trouble-
shooting complete.
