2296-06 Left Front Drive
System Response:
Pump Reverse Control Sole- All-Wheel Drive (AWD) Electronic
noid Current Above Normal Control Module (ECM) will log a diag-
nostic code and a warning will appear
on the messenger while the diagnos-
tic code is Active.
N OT E
Always inspect the harness connectorsthat are involved in the circuit.
Poor connections can often be the cause of a problem in an electrical
circuit. Verify that all connections in the circuit are clean and secure,
and that all connections are in good condition. If a problem with a
connection is found, correct the problem and verify that this diagnostic
code is Active before performing this procedure.
Perform open or short circuit test ateach harness connection to identify
correct harness to replace.
Perform this test only if condition is Active.
Test Step 1. Test for Shorted Left
Drive Pump Reverse Solenoid.
1. Connect MSD (WP 0006). Select
All Wheel Drive 120M and verify
2296-06 is active.
2. Turn ignition switch and battery
disconnect switch to the OFF
position.
3. Open access door and disconnect
pump drive solenoid AX-C3 har-
ness connector (WP 0009, Figure
104) from left drive pump reverse
solenoid connector (WP 0009,
Figure 105).
4. Turn battery disconnect switch
and ignition switch to the ON posi-
tion.
5. Check for Active code 2296-05 or
Code 2296-06 Remains Active - Pro-
2296-06 in All Wheel Drive 120M
ceed to Test Step 2.
ECM (WP 0006).
Code 2296-06 Becomes Inactive
and 2296-05 Becomes Active -
Replace left drive pump reverse sole-
noid (WP 0117).
Proceed to step 6.
6. Using the MSD (WP 0006), select
2296-06 Code Active - Repeat trou-
All Wheel Drive 120M and verify
bleshooting code from the beginning.
2296-06 is not active.
2296-06 Code Not Active - Trouble-
shooting complete.
