Breathing ether vapors or repeated contact of ether with skin can cause
personal injury. Use ether only in well ventilated areas.
Do not smoke while changing ether cylinders.
Use ether with care to avoid fires.
Do not store replacement ether cylin ers in living areas or in the
d
operator's compartment.
Do not store ether cylinders in direct sunlight or at temperatures above
120F (49C).
Discard ether cylinders in a safe place. Do not puncture or burn
cylinders.
Keep ether cylinders out of the reach of unauthorized personnel.
Be sure the brakes are applied and all controls are in HOLD or
NEUTRAL position when starting the engine.
Failure to follow these warnings may result in injury to personnel.

The Engine ECM uses data from the engine coolant temperature
sensor and intake manifold temperature sensor to determine the need
for the ether injection starting aid. The Engine ECM controls the ether
injection starting aid to provide better cold start attempts.
The ether injection starting aid solenoid control circuit R941-GY starts
at engine ECM harness connector FA-C17 terminal 29 and is routed to
ether injection starting aid solenoid harness connector FE-C2 terminal
1. The solenoid ground circuit starts at ether injection solenoid harness
connector FE-C2 terminal 2 and is routed to the engine ECM harness
connector FA-C17 terminal 26.
Test Step 1. Verify Diagnostic Code
is Active.
N OT E
Always inspect the harness connectorsthat are involved in the circuit.
Poor connections can often be the cause of a problem in an electrical
circuit. Verify that all connections in the circuit are clean and secure,
and that all connections are in good condition. If a problem with a
connection is found, correct the problem and verify that this diagnostic
code is active before performing this procedure.
Perform open or short circuit test ateach harness connection to identify
correct harness to replace.
Perform this test only if condition is active.
