(1) Torque for nuts . . . . . . . . . . . 300' ± 15 lb. ft. (408 ± 20 Nm)
Bearing Adjsutment:
Torque for studs . . . . . . . . . 110 + 15 lb. ft. (150 ± 20 Nm)
Tools Needed: Spanner Wrench
(2) Torque for nuts . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
270 ± 11 lb. ft. (367 ± 15 Nm)
(3) Torque for bolts.. . . . . . . . . . . . 270 ± 11 lb. ft. (367 ± 15 Nm)
(4) Apply 5P960 Multipurpose Type Grease on these surfaces.
NOTE: The procedure that follows must be used to put the correct
amount of preload on the bearings for the final drive:
1. Tighten nut (8) to a torque of 150 lb. ft. (205 Nm) with
spanner wrench.
(5) Adjust shim pack thickness to provide end play between
housings of ...
.000 to .002 in. (0.00 to 0.06 mm)
(6) Install retainer with bevel toward sprocket as shown
2. Turn sprocket (7) to put the bearings in their seats.
3. Hit the hub of sprocket (7) with a large punch and a hammer.
4. Repeat Steps 1, 2 and 3 until nut (8) does not turn when it
is tightened.
5. Loosen nut (8).
6. Tighten nut (8) to a torque of 100 lb. ft. (135 Nm)
7. If nut (5) is in a locking position, install the axle, retainer (9)
and bolts.
8. If nut (8) is not in a locking position, tighten the nut to the
next nearest locking position. Install the axle, retainer (8)
and the bolts.
