3304 VEHICULAR ENGINESTM 5-3805-263-14&P-2SPECIFICATIONSENGINE OIL PRESSUREAll steps of this procedure must be followed for the pressure findingsto be usable.Step 3. Run the engine to get the oil temperature at 210° F (99° C).NOTE: A 5° F (3° C) increase in oil temperature gives approximatelyStep 1. Be sure that the engine is filled to thecorrect level with either1 psi (7 kPa) decrease in oil pressure.Step 4. Keep the engineoil temperature constant. With the engine atthe rpm from the chart, read the pressure gauge.SAE 10 or SAE 30 oil. If any other viscosity of oil is used, theinformation in the ENGINE OIL PRESSURE CHART doesnot apply.Step 2. Find a location on the engine oil manifold to install a tee. TheMake a comparison between the pressure reading on the test gaugeeasiest method is to remove the sending unit for the presentand the minimum permissible pressure from the ENGINE OIL PRES-gauge and install a tee at this location. Install a probe fromSURE CHART. If the pressure reading on the test gauge is belowthe 9S9102 Thermistor Thermometer Group in one side ofthe minimum permissible pressure, find the cause and correct it.the tee Connect a 8M2744 Gauge from the 5P6225 HydraulicOperation of the engine with low oil pressure can be the cause ofTest Box to the other side of the tee.engine failure or of a reduction in engine life.ENGINE OIL PRESSURE CHARTTESTrpm1500 rpmor aboveSAE NO.MINIMUM PERMISSIBLE PRESSUREOF TEST OILpsikPa10201403024165600 to 800rpm1064030750OIL FILTER GROUP2P6475Oil cooler bypass valve and oil filter bypass valvemust open at a pressure difference of25 ± 3 psi (170 ± 20 kPa)(1) 8M3182 Spring for oil cooler bypass valve:Length under rest force2.5 in.
