INTRODUCTION
The 130 Grader is provided in two types of configurations: TYPE I (Nonsectionalized) and TYPE II (Sectionalized). Both
the TYPE I and II configurations can be transported on flatbed trailers, railcars, and C130/C141/C5 aircraft. Both TYPE I
and II vehicles can be driven on/driven off aircraft or air dropped using the Low Altitude Parachute Extraction (LAPES).
The TYPE II Grader can be air transported externally by CH47 helicopters in two sections.
For all air transport modes, the Rollover Protective Structure (ROPS) and exhaust pipe are removed to reduce the overall
height and weight. Procedures for the removal and installation of the ROPS can be found in the Maintenance Volume II.
For helicopter transport, the TYPE II Grader is separated into two sections, each section weighing less than the maximum
permissible lifting weight of the helicopter. The two sections are:
Front Frame Section (from machine front to rear of operators platform)
Rear Frame Section (includes engine and tandem axles)
When the TYPE II Grader is sectionalized, the front section is immobile but the rear section has suitable controls to permit
driving and maneuvering of the rear section to/from the front section. Refer to the sectionalization procedures beginning
on page 99 of this manual.
