Full battery voltage and high current are available at alternator cables at all times.
Disconnect, isolate, and secure all battery cables before performing this procedure.
Failure to follow this warning may result in injury to personnel or damage to equipment.
N OT E
Tag and mark all cables and wires to aid in installation.
1. Position boot (Figure 1, Item 1) aside.
2. Remove bolt (Figure 1, Item 4), washer (Figure 1, Item 5), lockwasher (Figure 1, Item 3) and negative
alternator cable (Figure 1, Item 2) from alternator (Figure 1, Item 8). Discard lockwasher.
3. Position boot (Figure 1, Item 11) aside.
4. Remove nut (Figure 1, Item 9), lockwasher (Figure 1, Item 7), and washer (Figure 1, Item 6) from positive
alternator cable (Figure 1, Item 10). Discard lockwasher.
5. Remove positive alternator cable (Figure 1, Item 10) from alternator (Figure 1, Item 8).
