System Response:

ECM will log a diagnostic code and a
mal
warning will appear on the messenger
while the diagnostic code is Active.
N OT E
Always inspect the harness connectorsthat are involved in the circuit.
Poor connections can often be the cause of a problem in an electrical
circuit. Verify that all connections in the circuit are clean and secure,
and that all connections are in good condition. If a problem with a
connection is found, correct the problem and verify that this diagnostic
code is Active before performing this procedure.
Perform open or short circuit test ateach harness connection to identify
correct harness to replace.
Perform this test only if condition is Active.
Test Step 1. Test for Open Trans-
mission Clutch Modulating Valve.
1. Connect MSD (WP 0006). Select
Trans/chassis 120M and verify
1403-05 is active.
2. Turn ignition switch and battery
disconnect switch to the OFF
position.
3. Disconnect the transmission har-
ness connector T-C2 (WP 0009,
Figure 172) from transmission
clutch modulating valve 3 (WP
0009, Figure 173) (WP 0155).
4. Connect jumper wire between T-
C2 terminal 1 and T-C2 terminal 2
(WP 0009, Figure 172).
5. Turn battery disconnect switch
and ignition switch to the ON posi-
tion.
6. Check for Active code 1403-05 or
Code 1403-05 Remains Active - Pro-
1403-06 in Trans/chassis 120M
ceed to Test Step 2.
(WP 0006).
Code 1403-05 Becomes Inactive
and 1403-06 Becomes Active -
Remove jumper wire from T-C2 termi-
nal 1 and terminal 2 (WP 0009, Figure
172).
Replace transmission clutch modulat-
ing valve 3 (WP 0155).
Proceed to step 7.
