Always inspect the harness connectorsthat are involved in the circuit.
Poor connections can often be the cause of a problem in an electrical
circuit. Verify that all connections in the circuit are clean and secure,
and that all connections are in good condition. If a problem with a
connection is found, correct the problem and verify that this diagnostic
code is active before performing this procedure.
Perform open or short circuit test ateach harness connection to identify
correct harness to replace.
Perform this test only if condition is active.
1. Perform Turbo Waste Gate Sole-
Turbo Waste Gate Solenoid Test
noid Test (WP 0038).
Failed with Tested Device Current
High - Proceed to step 2.
2. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
3. Disconnect the harness connector
EA-C15 (WP 0009, Figure 29)
from the turbocharger waste gate
solenoid.
4. Perform Turbo Waste Gate Sole-
Turbo Waste Gate Solenoid Test
noid Test (WP 0038).
Failed with Tested Device Current
Low - Solenoid faulty, replace
turbocharger waste gate solenoid
(WP 0079).
Turbo Waste Gate Solenoid Test
Failed with Tested Device Current
High - Proceed to step 5.
5. Turn the ignition switch and bat-
tery disconnect switch to the OFF
position.
6. Disconnect Engine ECM harness
connector EA-C1 (WP 0009, Fig-
ure 3) from Engine ECM J2.
7. Using a digital multimeter, test for
Continuity - Engine control wiring
continuity between Engine ECM
harness is shorted, replace engine
harness connector EA-C1 (WP
control wiring harness (WP 0080).
