Section I. PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE CHECKS AND SERVICES.
4-1.
GENERAL INFORMATION. Preventive maintenance is step-by-step care, inspection and service of equipment. It
maintains a vehicle in good condition. It spots problems before extensive and time-consuming repairs or replacements are
needed.
4-2.
MAINTENANCE FORMS AND RECORDS.
Record Keeping. All deficiencies and shortcomings must be recorded as well as corrective action noted on DA
Form 2404 at the earliest possible opportunity. DA Form 2404, Equipment Inspection and Maintenance Worksheet, is
used by the mechanic to record periodic maintenance services performed and faults corrected. The item number on the
DA Form 2404 must correspond to the item number of the preventive maintenance check.
