GENERAL
1-1.
Purpose. To provide user and support personnel supplemental maintenance and repair parts instructions that
have special application to Commercial Construction Equipment (CCE) items.
1-2.
Scope. This publication applies to Department of the Army Units, Organizations and Activities that use/or support
the CCE Motor Graders, Caterpillar Models 130GNSCE and 130GSCE
1-3.
CCE Item. The term "CCE Item" used in this publication applies to a standard commercial item of commercial
equipment that has been approved for specified T.O.E. requirement and is procured and supported under the CCE system
plan. This plan permits maximum utilization of the civilian construction industry's Competitive Research and Development
Manufacturer's Equipment Publications and commercial sources for repair parts.
1-4.
Description.
a. This grader is a commercial 6 wheeled 4 wheel drive, articulated frame, front wheel steering. The grader is a
Caterpillar Tractor Co., Model 130G.
b. The basic components of the power train are; the engine, transfer gears, power shift transmission, bevel gear and
pinion, final drives and axles, and tandems and wheels. There is no flywheel, clutch or torque converter used on this
machine.
c. Power from the engine goes directly to the upper section of the power shift transmission which has forward and
reverse direction clutches. The lower section has the speed clutches. Four of the five speed clutches are stationary, while
one clutch is a turning clutch. Three clutches must be engaged at the same time to have power flow through the
transmission.
d. Power goes from the output flange of the transmission planetary to the pinion gear of the differential or bevel gear.
The differential or bevel gear turns the axles that turn planetary gears of the final drive.
e. The sprockets of the final drive are connected to the wheel spindles with chain. The brake system is a four disc-
type brakes, one in each wheel spindle housing, are used for the service brake system. The cooling of the brakes is
through the oil in the drive tandems. The service brakes are activated by air pressure. Top speed forward is 24.5 MPH -
39.4 km/h and reverse 24.5 mph 39.4 km/h. The fuel tank capacity - 284 liters - 75 gallons and the equipment will use
approximately 44-52 gallons - 148 liters of diesel fuel with the engine operating the 2100 RPM, for a period of 8 hours
(steady cycling on basic grader cycle).
