SECTION VI
LOW METER TEE TEST
PROCEDURE-IX
INTRODUCTION
The Flow Meter Tee Test Procedure-IX in this section is intended for use in locating hydraulic circuit components which
need adjustment or repair. Use a stopwatch or timer when making the first tests.
Before making any tests, visually inspect the hydraulic system and its components before trying to diagnose the problem.
Look for oil leakage and damaged parts.
Remove the oil strainer and check it for foreign particles. Remove the filter elements and cut them apart. Look for pieces
of dirt, rubber, cork, and metal. A magnet can be used to separate iron or steel particles from pieces of bronze or
aluminum.
Clean the strainer and install new filter elements. Fill the hydraulic tank to the mark on the gauge.
Then start the engine and operate the hydraulic system components until the oil temperature is between 30 and 65 F
(17 and 35 C) more than atmospheric temperature.
WARNING
When testing and adjusting the hydraulic system, move the machine to a smooth horizontal
location. Move away from working machines and personnel. There must be only one
operator. Keep all other personnel away from the machine or where the operator can see
the personnel.
